PALAKKAD: A burnt body of a Plus Two student was found in an isolated place. The dead is Gopika (17), daughter of late Kaladharan of Muthalamada Kalliyampara and Sheeba. She was a student of Kollengode BSS HSS. The girl had left home in the morning saying that she was going to school. Her body was later found burnt on the rocks, half a kilometer away from her house.

When she was not seen even after the time she was supposed to return from school, her mother Sheeba went to the rocks, where Gopika usually sits, and then found her burnt body. People then rushed hearing Sheeba's screams. Later, as per the information provided by the locals, panchayat member B Manikandan informed the police.

The Kollengode police reached the spot and, in a search, recovered a bag, mobile phone and diary from near the body. The initial conclusion is that she poured kerosene on her head and set on fire. The cause of death is said to have been written in the diary and on a nearby rock. The body has been shifted to the mortuary of the district hospital. It will be handed over to her family after postmortem.
