'By the time I woke up, daddy left us all'; Shine Tom Chacko gets emotional

KOCHI: Actor Shine Tom Chacko lost his father Chacko in a tragic car accident yesterday while he and other family members suffered injuries. His mother Mariam Carmel, brother Joe John Chacko, and manager Aneesh were injured in the accident.

The accident took place at around 6.30 am yesterday at Hogenakkal Palakkot Parayoor in Dharmapuri district on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway. According to the driver, the truck travelling in front of them veered off track which ended up in the car losing control. Chacko was rushed to hospital but his life could not be saved.

“From the moment he entered the car in Thrissur, Daddy was making us laugh with his jokes. We had lunch together in Palakkad. He continued with the jokes but I fell asleep in the meantime. When I woke up he left us all. Daddy lived for me. He was never bored of talking with me and in case of lack of a proper topic, we would randomly talk and talk for hours. It is a terrible situation for me." said Shine.

The body brought home in Mundoor after a postmortem at Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital, was shifted to a morgue. The funeral will be held later. Chacko, who was not wearing a seat belt was thrown to the front of the vehicle in the impact of the collision.

Shine was sleeping in the back seat. His mother Mariam suffered a serious hip injury. Joe John, who was in the front seat, also suffered an injury to his hand. The group left Kochi for Bengaluru at 10 pm on Thursday. Shine, who was recently involved in a drug scandal, was travelling to Bengaluru to continue with his rehabilitation.
