Chittoor river accident; both Rameshwaram natives dead; Sree Gautham and Arun part of student group from Coimbatore

PALAKKAD: Two youths who were swept away in the Chittoor river have died. The deceased are Rameshwaram natives Sree Gautham and Arun, who were part of a student group that had come from Coimbatore. The accident took place around 2 pm today. The youths fell into the canal after getting caught in the whirlpool.

Sree Gautham was rescued from the river and taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. Arun was found during a subsequent search. Locals say that the current here is strong. Many people from other states come here to celebrate their holidays. Accidents have happened here before.
