KANNUR: A clash broke out between the CPM and BJP activists in the name of singing Ganageetham during a temple fest. The incident happened during Kannadiparambu Sree Muthappan Temple fest. A dispute arose over singing Ganageetham, which is usually sung at Sangh Parivar venues amidst the ganamela.
The ganamela team sang ganageetham as requested by some from the audience. However, two CPM activists entered the stage and stopped the singers from singing it. This led to a major protest as there were BJP and RSS members in the temple organizing committee. Allegations were levelled that BJP and RSS workers tried to attack the CPM workers for stopping the song. The locals intervened to calm the situation.
Following the incident, tension is still prevailing in the area. DYFI has informed to organize a protest meeting this evening in protest against the incident. Both sides have decided to move forward with a complaint in the incident.
