ALAPPUZHA: An allegation of ragging has been reported at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Chennithala, where parents claim that a Class 8 student was assaulted by Plus One students. The parents have filed a complaint with both the school authorities and the police. School principal Jolly Tommy, however, refuted the ragging claim, stating that the incident was the result of an ongoing dispute among the students.

“The incident was not an act of ragging but stemmed from pre-existing issues between the students. Six Plus One students involved in the assault within the hostel premises have been suspended,” the principal said.

Following the incident, the school submitted a detailed report to the District Collector. Mannar Police confirmed that further steps will be taken based on the Collector’s directives.
