THRISSUR: Whenever actor Shine Tom Chacko got embroiled in controversies, it was his father, CP Chacko who came to the rescue. Even his last journey was part of a mission to help his son come out of the shackles of drug addiction. When Shine was involved in controversies over drug use, Chacko formed a bulwark and vehemently protected Shine in front of the media and his relatives.
When Shine was under suspicion of the DANSAF team in the hybrid cannabis case last April, CP Chacko came out in front of the media with a nonchalant face and answered all of their queries.
“I have ten years of experience in handling cases, this has not become a case, let's see when it does.” This was P C Chacko’s response to the media when Shine was taken into custody.
Despite all the chaos and media hounding, C P Chacko was unperturbed in his mission and wanted by all means to do what he could to help his son come out of the addiction. Like a friend, he tried to guide Shine on the right path with advice and admonition. Shine started a production company with his father after finding a footing in the Tamil film industry.
C P Chacko was an amicable presence in his neighbourhood. The news of the unfortunate death has left the whole of Mundoor region in shock. The other day, he gave several wheelchairs to bedridden patients. Chacko was a grocery wholesaler in Ponnani. His wife, Maria, a teacher at Ponnani Carmel High School, moved here after her retirement due to her love for her hometown of Thrissur. Chacko, who has been living in Mundoor for 11 years, is from the Cheruvathur family of Palayur.
Aneesh, who was driving the car, told the media that the accident was caused by the lorry that had gone before him unexpectedly changing tracks. The car was driving on the left side of the double track. The lorry then veered off the track which made the car lose control as it was travelling at high speed. The front portion of the vehicle was damaged completely.
