THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM and CPI meetings will be convened today to examine the major setback suffered in the local body elections. CPM state secretariat and state committee meetings are being held. CPI's secretariat and executive meetings will be held.

The gold theft in Sabarimala and anti-government sentiments have been a setback in the elections. Left parties generally believe the achievements of the government over the past ten years, development activities and the campaign focusing on various welfare schemes were not taken seriously by the people.

The vote figures from the districts will be examined in today's meetings. The CPI has assessed that the organization at the grassroots level has not functioned properly. The party's assessment is that public support for the government is declining significantly. The party has instructed its cadres to inform them of any corrections that need to be made. It can be informed by email or letter. The public can also inform.

After today's meeting, the LDF will meet tomorrow. Meantime, KPCC and UDF meetings will be held this week to discuss the victory. It is reported that the BJP's state core committee meeting will be held in two days.
