PATHANAMTHITTA: CPM district committee office branch secretary Salim P. Chacko has resigned from the party. He said he decided to quit due to neglect, but will continue as a sympathiser.
Salim had earlier served three terms as SFI district president and was also a DYFI Pathanamthitta block office-bearer. During a period of factionalism within the party, he was expelled. He later worked with the RSP and the Congress. About three-and-a-half years ago, he was brought back to the CPM following the intervention of then district secretary K.P. Udayabhanu.
Salim is a former district president of the Sports Council. He was reportedly being considered for a position in the State Sports Council this time. However, he was left out following pressure from certain party leaders, which is said to have caused dissatisfaction.
