THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There are talks about the dubious circumstances under which the Thrissur Pooram disruption has gained back headlines across news media in Kerala. It is rumoured to be a CPM-orchestrated plan to thwart any attempt from news media prioritising PP Divya case, which is feared to annihilate CPM’s chances in the upcoming by-polls.

CPM will consider further action in Divya’s case only after the Thalassery court decision regarding Divya’s anticipatory bail on Tuesday. The current corruption news of one hundred crores related to NCP has also prompted a new controversy, thus shielding Divya from being the centre of discussion in news debates.

CPI still believes that the Thrissur Pooram was disrupted by some echelons in power. They demand an investigation to reveal the dark secrets behind the ‘hatchet job’ done to favour the BJP candidate winning the Thrissur elections. However, in a major embarrassment to CPI, CM Pinarayi Vijayan just two days’ ago, repudiated the chances of Pooram disruption and termed all rumours as ‘narratives’ intended for political gain.

Opposition leader VD Satheesan also targeted CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s volte-face as a dire attempt to help the BJP in the case. CPM State Secretary MV Govindan and Devaswom Minister VN Vasavan seconded the Chief Minister's new argument. The sudden change in tone from the CPM leadership has flummoxed Congress, battered CPI, and did little to alarm an indifferent BJP leadership.
