THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that Kerala is likely to receive rain with thunderstorms from today until the 26th. A cyclonic circulation is currently located over the Kanyakumari Sea and the Indian Ocean near the equator. A new low-pressure area has also formed over the Malacca Strait and the South Andaman Sea.
This system is expected to move west–northwest and intensify into a deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal by November 24. Over the next 48 hours, it may strengthen further as it moves towards the southwest Bay of Bengal. Due to these weather conditions, Kerala is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall over the next five days. A yellow alert has been issued for several districts.
