THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government will honour actor Mohanlal, who just won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest award in the field of cinema. The government will felicitate and congratulate Mohanlal at a function to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and others will attend the function.

Minister Saji Cherian had stated in Kaumudy TV's Straight Line interview program that a grand reception will be organised in the capital to express Kerala's love and respect for Mohanlal. Saji Cherian, earlier in the interview, said that the reception date will be decided after considering the convenience of Mohanlal and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Mohanlal was conferred with the highest film award, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, for his comprehensive contribution to the film industry. Mohanlal received the award from President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held in New Delhi last Tuesday. Mohanlal is the second Malayali to receive the Phalke Award after veteran filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan.
