Cholera is a waterborne disease transmitted through dirty water. The disease is spread by the Vibrio cholerae bacteria. These pathogens enter the body through the water and food we use from an unclean environment. When they enter the body, they produce a toxin called 'cholera toxin' that causes diarrhoea.
The main symptoms are severe diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, dehydration, and traces of blood in the stool. It is essential to maintain personal hygiene to prevent cholera. Drink only boiled water. In addition to regular chlorination, superchlorination should be done in wells in cholera-affected areas. Use vegetables and fruits only after washing them thoroughly. Wash your hands thoroughly after using the toilet. Take measures to prevent the spread of houseflies, as the disease is transmitted by houseflies.
