
NEW DELHI: A notification has been issued appointing advocate A K Preetha as a judge of the Kerala High Court. The appointment comes after President Droupadi Murmu approved the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium.
Preetha has been practicing in the High Court for 29 years. She is a native of Chittoor in Kochi and is the daughter of the late Advocate B.R. Aravindan Nair and Krishnamma of Peermade, Idukki. Her husband, Dr. Giri Shankar, is the Principal of St. Dominic’s College of Law in Kanjirappally.
Preetha is also known for fighting a legal battle to secure compensation for an eight-year-old girl who was questioned and harassed by the Pink Police in Thiruvananthapuram on suspicion of mobile phone theft.
