Death due to wearing saree; tragic end of printing press employee caused by head injury from horrific accident

VARKALA: An employee died after her saree got caught in a printing machine. Meena Manikandan (52, Sheeba), an employee of Varkala Ayiroor Poornna Publications and a native of Varkala Cherukunnam, died. The accident inside the printing press took place at around 12 noon today.

Meena has been an employee of Poornna Publications for about twenty years. For the safety of the employees, wearing a saree is prohibited inside the press. However, today Meena arrived wearing a saree. She was also wearing a coat over the saree for safety. Meena had gone to the store room while the printing was going on. While returning from the room, her saree's hem got stuck in the machine and her head hit the floor with great force. She was immediately taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved.

The initial information given by the doctors is that the cause of death was the severe head injury caused by the accident. The body has been shifted for further investigation. The police have started an investigation into the incident. Her husband is Manikandan.
