THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A decision will be reached in today’s cabinet meeting on further investigation into the controversial Thrissur Pooram ruckus. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had assured the CPI state secretary to discuss the matter on Thursday.
The DGP will also investigate ADGP MR Ajith Kumar's role in the Pooram ruckus. It is reported that a separate team will also investigate the matter. However, the critical question remains on ADGP M R Ajith Kumar’s future. CPI is highly positive about the meeting and believes that the government will remove ADGP with immediate effect after the cabinet meeting on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the High Court will hear a petition seeking action against former Thrissur Police Commissioner Ankit Ashok in the Pooram ruckus. The government had earlier informed the court that they are still waiting for the report of the high-level inquiry. The petition was filed by BJP leader B Gopalakrishnan and Thrissur native P Sudhakaran.
In the petition, it mentions that the Commissioner of Police obstructed the traditional rituals of Pooram and exceeded the limits of authority.
