THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The wife of late director Balachandra Kumar said that it was she who delayed her husband from revealing details of the actress assault case to investigative officers.

“Many have been asking why Balachandra Kumar kept silent all this time, not revealing the details of the actress assault case. In reality, I was the one who stopped him from doing so. I begged him not to make any revelation. However, now I regret that decision. Those details should have been revealed earlier.

My husband went ahead with the case despite knowing that his life was at stake.” Sheeba’s response came during an event conducted at the IFFK venue.

“After coming out of the third trial, Balachandra Kumar told me not to expect justice from this court. His words came true today. Since Balu was with the former accused for almost seven long years, he knew every detail of what happened. It seems apt that Balu left early, as he would have had a heartbreak witnessing the current verdict from the court.” Sheeba added.

The Special Investigation Team did not receive strong evidence of a conspiracy behind the crime in the initial stages of the investigation. The revelations made by director Balachandra Kumar halfway through the trial were crucial for the investigation team. These statements implicated Dileep and his associates.
