Demolition of Kapico resort begins, employees attack journos

ALAPPUZHA: The demolition of Kapico Resort in Alappuzha has begun. The journalists who came to report were manhandled. They were attacked by the employees of the resort. The government took over the resort and the land the other day. Soon after the demolition of the illegally constructed villas of the resort on Nediyathuruthu island in Vembanad Lake started.

The 35,900 square feet building complex at Panavalli Nediyathuruthu will be demolished. The Supreme Court had in 2020 ordered the demolition of the resort in Vembanad lake for violating the coastal and environmental regulations. It has been decided to complete the demolition process within a week. The proceedings are under the leadership of the Alappuzha Collector.
