THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The full report of the investigation against Dr Haris Chirakkal, head of the urology department of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, is out. The statements of the departmental heads in the report support Dr Harris' confession.
Four departmental heads had informed the investigation committee that equipment was not being received on time. The heads of the departments of nephrology, gastroenterology and neurosurgery agreed with Dr Haris. Doctors in two urology units also informed the expert committee that there was a delay in delivering equipment.
Patients have also testified that they had to pay money to buy equipment. Patients in the Karunya scheme also had to pay this money. The report says patients paid up to Rs 4,000 to buy equipment. The report concluded by finding that Dr Haris Chirakkal had violated the rules.
