KALPETTA: Wayanad Revenue Recovery Department Deputy Collector C Geetha has been suspended from service. She was suspended today after she was found guilty of dereliction of duty. The Revenue Department's action was based on a complaint filed by Kerala Congress State General Secretary K J Devasya.

The complaint was filed against Geetha in connection with the reclassification of ten cents of land included in the data bank of Noolpuzha village. The complaint also states that despite a court verdict in favour of K J Devasya for the reclassification of this land, the Deputy Collector intentionally delayed the process and demanded a bribe to expedite the process. The Revenue Department's investigation found that there were serious lapses on the part of the officer in processing the application related to the reclassification of the land. She was subsequently suspended.
