PATHANAMTHITTA: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has changed their stand on women’s entry in Sabarimala. Board president K Jayakumar while addressing the press said they will oppose the entry of women. The president stated that they will inform the Supreme Court of its stand against the present order and will oppose the verdict.
‘The board discussed in detail the issue related to the entry of women in Sabarimala. The rituals in Sabarimala should be protected. The board has no confusion and we are
with the devotees. The devaswom board has never supported the entry of women. Individuals may have supported it. What the lawyer said in 2020 was his opinion. An affidavit will be filed in the court clarifying this.
There will be a separate budget for Sabarimala pilgrimage. There has been no detailed budget in Sabarimala. The new decision is part of controlling expenditure and can prevent leakage of revenue. This will also ensure accurate accounting in Sabarimala.
By changing the method of giving advance from time to time, more things can be done professionally. A new tender method will be introduced for trading establishments. Things will become more transparent by eliminating the monopoly of those who take the auction. Transparency will be ensured in sponsorship. There will be sponsorship only for the things requested by the board. Sponsorship will be accepted directly from those expressing interest. There will be no intermediaries for this,' clarified Jayakumar.
