THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dr Haris Chirakkal, who has been fighting a one-man battle against the government system that is playing with the lives of patients at the medical college, has achieved his goal. The surgical equipment Lithoclast probe, which he requested as the head of the urology department, was airlifted from Hyderabad.
The surgeries that were postponed since Friday were performed on Tuesday. 11 surgeries were performed. Five of them were for fragmenting stones in the urinary tract using a probe and related surgeries. Two probes were delivered. These can be used for about a month. One more will arrive in two days.
Superintendent may be replaced, why?
The investigation by the four-member committee of the Medical Education Department investigating the allegations made by Dr Haris Chirakkal has been completed. The report will be immediately forwarded to the Health Minister. It is indicated that the superintendent will be replaced.
