PALAKKAD: The election flying squad and the special branch conducted a preliminary inspection on the allegation of BJP giving money to the voters. The Congress alleged that the woman, who was with NDA candidate Shobha Surendran, gave money to the aged woman. They had also released a video in this regard. Following this, the election commission intervened in the matter. The aged woman and her family told the officials of the squad, who investigated the issue, that the BJP had not given them money.

The officials said the family told them that the party had not given them any money and the cash seen in the visuals was in their hands. The officials added that they are examining the visuals in detail. The officials said that there was only a preliminary inspection and a detailed investigation will be conducted. The flying squad and the special branch will submit a report to the district collector and further action will be taken after that. The Congress alleged that the BJP workers gave Rs 5,000 to the aged woman identified as Devu of Tharuvakurissi in Kannadi panchayat. Shobha cane with two other women. It is alleged that the woman gave the money after Shobha left in the car. However, the aged woman told media that what she had in her hand was her pension amount.
