THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Travancore Devaswom Board President K Jayakumar launches indirect criticism in the Sabarimala gold loot case. K Jayakumar mentioned the Sabarimala issue while inaugurating the Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons state conference.
"I have taken up a job. Your job is to maintain the eyesight of people. My job is not to let my eyes lose control after seeing gold. The reason why many people get into these troubles is that their eyes are fixed on some things," he said.
K Jayakumar also spoke about the privatisation of the health sector. He said that the privatisation of the health sector cannot be opposed. Jayakumar clarified that the traditional perception of healthcare in Thiruvananthapuram has changed, and his own experience underlines this.
"There was a time when the general perception was that there was no hospital for the people of Thiruvananthapuram beyond the Medical College. But that perception has changed in the current situation," he said. Jayakumar also revealed that his granddaughter was treated for dengue fever in a private hospital that he has often criticised.
