WAYANAD: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that many people are leaving for Wayanad after learning about the landslide disaster and requested to avoid such unnecessary visits. "It is an unspeakably drastic disaster that has happened in Mundakkai and Chooralmala area. The tendency to stand as bystanders in the disaster area, hindering the rescue operation, at this time of areawide rescue operation, should be avoided," he said.

"Going to the disaster area unnecessarily on vehicles should be strictly avoided. The transportation of rescue workers and health workers is being affected due to these unnecessary trips. Everyone should cooperate with this by understanding it as the responsibility of the entire society" added the Chief Minister.

In the event of heavy rains, it has been decided to keep government employees of essential services at the ready. Except for long leaves, leave of employees of police, fire & rescue, revenue, health and local self-government departments will be cancelled. Instructions have been given to the heads of departments and district collectors to prepare them to deal with the disaster situation by asking them to return to work.
