THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The investigation committee report has confirmed the allegations of Dr Haris, who revealed the surgical crisis at the Medical College. The remarks in the report completely confirm the allegations. The information in the report was released yesterday.

The report states that the equipment in the urology department is missing and that an investigation should be conducted into the matter. However, Dr. Haris was not linked to it. Haris had taken a tough stance and appeared before the media after receiving the show-cause notice from the DME. Later, the Health Minister revealed that the investigation report had also stated that the equipment in the urology department was missing and that the police would have to investigate if necessary.

The report also states that Dr. Haris's revelation through a Facebook post that the surgeries of two people, including a student, were cancelled is true. The surgeries were postponed after the lithoclast probe broke. The report also states that the patients revealed that the equipment was purchased after collecting Rs. 4,000 each from one person.

Anticipating the usual delays in the office, Dr. Haris sent letters several times to purchase equipment. There was a gap of three months between the HOD's request and the supply order. The application was pending in the Collector's office also. There is a recommendation that the moscilloscope part of the morcellator device is missing, and an investigation should be conducted. However, there is no mention that Haris is involved.

How did the surgery happen the next day?

The investigation committee had found that the same surgery was done the day after Dr. Haris revealed that the surgery was cancelled. The report pointed out that the second unit chief, Dr. Saju, had testified that the surgery was performed using the cheap equipment he had.

Do not buy equipment by collecting money from the patient

  • Recommendation that the practice of collecting money from patients and buying equipment should be stopped.
  • Permanent employees should be appointed in important departments.
  • The financial authority of the superintendent should be increased.
  • Dr. Haris's intentions are good, but there is a violation of the rules and regulations, and it should be discouraged.
