Elderly woman who killed her nephew by pouring acid dies while undergoing treatment 

IDUKKI: The elderly woman who killed a man by pouring acid on him in Nirappel has also died. Thankamma, a native of Kottayam Kattachira, passed away on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College Hospital. On October 24, Thankamma had killed her nephew, Sukumaran, by pouring acid on him. The accused herself had suffered severe burns in the incident. After being taken into custody, she was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Police said that Thankamma and Sukumaran had long-standing disputes related to financial transactions. She had previously filed a police complaint against Sukumaran. About 15 days before the murder, Thankamma had gone to Sukumaran’s house. Sukumaran, who suffered serious burns, was first taken by locals to Thookkupalam and later to a private hospital in Kattappana. He died while being shifted from there to Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
