Errors in audit report of Global Ayyappa Sangamam held, says Devaswom Board President 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Travancore Devaswom Board President K Jayakumar said the audit report of the Global Ayyappa Sangamam was subjected to a detailed study by the devaswom board today. Although it was received earlier, only the audit report was submitted to meet the deadline set by the high court. However, the affidavit was not filed. K Jayakumar clarified that the court will now consider the matter on February 27.

‘The audit report submitted to the court is not final. Corrections have to be made in it. The shortcomings that came to the attention of the auditor will be reported to the board. The client will reply to it. Some of the responses will be considered by the auditor. Otherwise, they will be considered as major objections. However, such a process did not happen. It is not the auditor's fault, but our own. Did not reply to the auditor's questions and there was no proper communication.

Things including bills need to be examined, amounts need to be checked, assets need to be written into the stock register and analyzed. However, such steps have not been taken or if taken, the auditor is not aware of them. The errors in the report are due to our failure to respond in a timely manner. The board has decided to do the corrections at the earliest. A task force consisting of the devaswom commissioner, accounts officer and chief engineer has been formed to make corrections within ten days. A detailed study will be conducted on the report,' clarified K Jayakumar.
