PALAKKAD: Rahul Mamkootathil MLA, arrested in the third rape case, challenged the police shortly before being sent to jail. Rahul told the officers that he has evidence to escape from the case. Would be released from jail soon. Rahul told the police officers that he would win even if he stood independently. Palakkad MLA was arrested on the complaint of a 31-year-old woman of Kottayam. The woman filed the complaint via e-mail from Canada on January 5. The remand report says that she was raped on April 8, 2024, at a hotel in Thiruvalla.

Police said Rahul is not cooperating with the investigation in the case. Although the phones were seized, the screen pattern and lock were not disclosed to the police. Rahul’s arrest was kept secret after closing all loopholes. Rahul is presently in Mavelikkara sub-jail and was remanded for 14 days.

As the first two cases against Rahul faced setbacks, only the DGP, ADGP H Venkitesh and DIG Poonguzhali knew about the steps to be taken. The FIR was filed the other day. Meanwhile, the chief minister received an emotional voice message of the survivor. The woman was crying while revealing the brutal harassment. The chief minister directed the DGP to take all possible steps, and th he was arrested quickly.
