KOCHI: The family of the 21-year-old woman who committed suicide in Angamaly alleged that she faced mental torture from her boyfriend, leading to her death. Jiniya Jose was found hanging in her house. Despite the family’s allegation, police could not find any evidence against the boyfriend in the case. Meanwhile, a voice message sent by Jiniya to her friend on Instagram has surfaced. It is indicated that Jiniya faced restrictions and sometimes scolding from her boyfriend, even for talking with her friends.

“If I’m busy with another call, then the day would be hell for me. He would accuse me of having a secret affair with someone. After he got into my life, I distanced myself from my friends. I am tired of it.” Jiniya said in the message.

Jiniya Jose was a technician at a private lab in Angamaly. The young woman was found hanging inside her house on the 7th of this month. The family alleges that Jiniya had faced physical assault as well as mental torture from her boyfriend, a native of Chalakudy.

The family learned later that Jiniya’s boyfriend had once slapped her at the lab where she worked. Jiniya's mother was inconsolable and said her daughter, who always went happily to work, endured such toxicity in her life which she never shared with her family.
