SABARIMALA: A fire that broke out at the 'coprakkalam' (copra shed) in Sabarimala raised concerns. Smoke that arose in large quantities from the shed, where copra was kept for drying, was noticed by those on duty, who promptly informed the fire force. The fire force soon arrived at the spot and brought the fire under control. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The event occurred on Saturday around 5 PM.
Due to the heavy rainfall in Sabarimala over the past two days, the contractors who took the copra contract had stored more copra in the shed. The smoke rose from this. However, authorities stated that the situation did not escalate into a major fire and it was brought under control promptly. Authorities said that a fire force team is permanently stationed at the site and a fire audit was conducted considering the hazardous nature of the copra shed.
