Five districts likely to receive rain with thunder and lightning in coming hours; orange alert issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department has warned that five districts in Kerala may receive rain with thunder and lightning in the next three hours. An orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts. There is also a chance of light rain at isolated places in Thrissur and Kozhikode districts.

In districts under the orange alert, strong winds with speeds of up to 50 kmph are also likely, according to the warning. Rain alerts have also been issued for Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, and Wayanad districts for tomorrow. On Saturday, rain is expected in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur districts. The forecast indicates a possibility of isolated heavy rainfall, with expected rainfall ranging from 64.55 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
