THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The special investigation team (SIT) questioned former devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran in the Sabarimala gold theft case. Former board president P S Prasanth was also grilled. The two were interrogated on Saturday. Sources associated with the investigation team said Kadakampally was questioned as the minister in charge of the board at the time of the gold theft.

Meantime, the special investigation team also questioned D Mani on the complaint of smuggling of Panchaloha idols from Sabarimala. As requested by the investigation team, D Mani appeared at the crime branch office in Thiruvananthapuram this morning. Mani's friend Balamurugan also appeared for questioning. The investigation team had questioned D Mani in Dindigul. However, he has denied the allegations. Mani had given a statement that he was not involved in the idol smuggling. The expatriate businessman's statement was that Unnikrishnan Potty intervened and smuggled the Panchaloha idols from Sabarimala with the help of a high-ranking person in Sabarimala.
