ALAPPUZHA: Former minister G Sudhakaran, who had not renewed his party membership after his differences of opinion with the party, has opened his mind now. He said that he will contest as an independent candidate in Ambalapuzha. However, he said that he has not abandoned the party principles and ideology and will not seek anyone’s support. He said this while addressing the press meet convened at his home in Paravoor, Punnapra.
‘I noticed many types of news published about me. I have not spoken to any opposition party. I joined the party at 15. I was a full-time worker until 2002. I did not join the party after being forced by anyone. I have not renewed my membership now and that too, no one forced me. I am someone who lived for the party and so will not insult the party. I have not abandoned the party’s principles and ideology.
Many in the party are saying many things about me. They even said bad about my father. He was a teacher who taught thousands of children. I have not done anything for my relatives. I have worked for the common people. Jobs were given to thousands of youths. Is it right to personally attack such a person? If it continues, will retaliate nobly. I have been in jail for the party. I have been tortured a lot; I have not walked a path of roses to reach here.
I will not succumb to criticisms. I will follow the party’s principles. Some ask what he wants now, has become an MLA and a minister. That is not the communist way. Lenin was the ruler of Russia until he died. Mao and Castro were in power. Will they be asked to step down?
Elamaram Karim conducted an investigation against me for the low majority in Ambalappuzha. I explained the matter in 25 pages. They did not read it. My claims were not included in Karim's report. In the state committee, except for the members of Alappuzha district, none supported me. The others were silent. They know the facts. On what basis did Karim write the report? Isn't it a false report?
I’ll contest as an independent in Ambalapuzha. I will not say anything against the Communist Party in the election. I will not give speeches anywhere. I will not personally attack anyone. I am an independent candidate. No one has come with support. I cannot say now whether I will accept support. It depends on the nature of the support,’ said G Sudhakaran.
