ALAPPUZHA: Former minister G Sudhakaran contesting as an independent in Ambalapuzha met Vellappally Natesan Monday morning. The meeting was at Vellappally’s house in Kanichukulangara. Sudhakaran met Vellappally in person to seek support in the elections. Sudhakaran is likely to go to Perunna to meet NSS General Secretary Sukumaran Nair after that.
Meantime, the UDF has announced support for G Sudhakaran, who is contesting as an independent candidate in Ambalapuzha, after snapping ties with the CPM. The UDF will not field a candidate in Ambalapuzha. H Salam is the LDF candidate in Ambalapuzha.
Sudhakaran left the party following neglect from the CPM. Sudhakaran contesting in Ambalapuzha is a setback for the LDF and the CPM. Sudhakaran had spoken to Congress leaders after leaving CPM, but the UDF had not announced its support at that time. Support for Sudhakaran was under discussion among the UDF leaders in the past few days. The leaders held discussions with Sudhakaran. The support in Ambalapuzha became public after Sudhakaran also agreed to accept support. However, the CPM is unleashing widespread criticism against Sudhakaran in Ambalapuzha.
Meantime, Sudhakaran had shared on social media yesterday whether such a big uproar was needed to confront him as an independent. This is a post written about the protest demonstration and political clarification meeting held by the CPM Ambalapuzha Area Committee against Sudhakaran, who announced his candidacy as an independent candidate.
