Gimmick by Suresh Gopi; Govt ready to set up AIIMS anywhere

ALAPPUZHA: CPM Alappuzha district secretary R Nasar harshly criticised Union Minister Suresh Gopi for his remarks on All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Setting up AIIMS in Alappuzha is a gimmick. There is no truth in what he says. The government should be informed if AIIMS is coming. The government is ready to bring it anywhere. The Centre has not informed anything. Suresh Gopi was just lying. Nasar clarified that no decision has been taken in this regard.

BJP Thiruvananthapuram city district president Karamana Jayan had also rejected Suresh Gopi's demand to set up AIIMS in Alappuzha. It is not known what Suresh Gopi meant by saying that it should be set up in Alappuzha. AIIMS should be set up in Thiruvananthapuram. If AIIMS is set up in Thiruvananthapuram, it would benefit Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Suresh Gopi had earlier said that he has got full support from the central government on the AIIMS issue. AIIMS should be established in Alappuzha itself. It is our duty to bring Alappuzha, which is lagging behind other districts in terms of development, forward. If we examine 13 districts, Alappuzha is behind Idukki. This district is facing great hardship. Therefore, establishing AIIMS in Alappuzha is essential for the development of this country, Suresh Gopi had said.
