THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a strategic move, the CPM state secretariat has decided not to pursue a parallel investigation into PV Anvar's allegations against the Chief Minister's office, citing concerns over potential damage to the government's image. The decision comes as a top-level DGP probe is already underway. CPM state secretary MV Govindan later clarified at a press conference that there was no mention of the Chief Minister's political secretary P Sasi in the complaint given by Anvar. He also criticized Anvar's public revelations against the government.

The CPM has successfully neutralized the controversy surrounding Anvar's allegations, but the move has left some party members dissatisfied as they were expecting a thorough investigation and disciplinary action against P Sasi, a member of the party's state committee.

With party conferences underway, such an investigation could lead to further divisions and infighting. It has also been pointed out that this could provide an opportunity for the opposition to strengthen their attack against the government.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the investigation, initiated under the DGP's supervision, should be allowed to proceed first. He assured that the report would be available within a month. If the allegations are substantiated after a thorough investigation, further action can be taken. Additionally, there was a consensus that the party should exercise caution to prevent political opponents from capitalizing on the situation. Taking these concerns into account, the secretariat decided to refrain from intervening in the investigation for the time being.

P Sasi did not make any unnecessary interventions
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan clarified at the meeting that P Sasi had not intervened in any manner, including the investigation announced into Anvar's allegations. He also pointed out that Anvar's complaint did not contain any allegations against Sasi. The Chief Minister further explained that since the DGP is in charge of the investigation, MR Ajith Kumar, who is facing allegations, can continue to handle law and order duties without hindering the investigation.

Anvar's allegations, which have created a political smoke screen, are providing ammunition to the opposition. The explanation came when State Secretary MV Govindan pointed out the allegations raised by Anvar. The credibility of Anvar's allegations was also questioned. With that, the P Sasi issue became a closed chapter in the party for the time being.
