THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC President Sunny Joseph MLA has alleged that the show-cause notice issued to Dr. Harris Hasan is an act of revenge by the state government, following the embarrassment it faced when the Kerala society became aware of the mismanagement and criminal negligence in the health sector through Dr. Hasan’s revelations.

He said this was evident from the Chief Minister’s response itself. “Instead of acknowledging the facts revealed by Dr. Harris Hasan and taking steps to address them, the government tried to intimidate and silence him. When that failed, they moved forward with action against him. This is an abuse of power. The policies of the Pinarayi government, which threaten and retaliate against those who speak the truth, are deplorable,” Sunny Joseph said.

Sunny Joseph also criticised the BJP over the incident where Malayali nuns were arrested in Chhattisgarh on charges of human trafficking and forced religious conversion.

“Innocent nuns have been kept in jail for a week by the BJP government on baseless charges. They were arrested on unimaginable accusations simply for helping poor people and trying to provide them with jobs. Alleging religious conversion against their work in healthcare and humanitarian service is a wrong move by the BJP. Immediate steps must be taken to release the nuns. People will judge the BJP’s double standards on this issue,” he added.
