THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has extended the tenure of retired IAS officer Sheik Pareeth as managing director of the Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation (KSCADC). It is normal for IAS officers to continue in high posts in public sector institutions even after retirement. The maximum age limit is 65. The state government has repeatedly revised this term in the case of Pareeth.
The age limit for being an MD of public sector institutions is 65. However, Pareeth is now 67. The government extended his tenure on his request. Pareeth claimed that KSCADC is moving forward with various projects and that if he steps down from the post of MD, the implementation of all these projects will be hampered. He had written a letter to Minister Saji Cherian pointing this. Considering this letter, the cabinet extended his tenure for another year. An order was issued in this regard on December 19. He first took charge as MD in 2018. His term of service was extended every year.
