THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in his press conference announced the cabinet decision to give a government job to Wayanad landslide survivor Sruthi. The government will also provide a compensation of seven lakh to the kin of Kozhikode native Arjun, who died in Shirur landslides.
Sruthi had lost her parents and sister in the landslides while tragedy haunted her again last month after she lost her fiancé in a car accident.
CM clarified that Rs 10 lakh will be given to those who lost their parents in the disaster and Rs 5 lakh to the children who lost one of their parents. The families who lost their homes and land in the calamity will be rehabilitated in the first phase.
The Chief Minister also stated that the decision is to rehabilitate those living in places that have become uninhabitable. The Chief Minister also informed that the Wayanad District Collector will release the draft list of those who will be rehabilitated in the first and second phases. The cabinet meeting also decided to pay Rs 7 lakh to the family of Arjun who died in the Shirur landslide. Earlier, Arjun's wife Krishnapriya was given a job as a Junior Clerk at Vengeri Co-operative Bank.
At the same time, the Chief Minister also informed that a decision was taken in the cabinet meeting to re-investigate the Thrissur Pooram controversy. The DGP will investigate the allegations against ADGP Ajith Kumar. The head of the crime branch will investigate the conspiracy. The intelligence chief has also been instructed to investigate the general matters regarding the Pooram ruckus.
