THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A letter from the Kerala government in favour of the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case convicts sparked a row. The prison superintendents received a letter from the state prison headquarters enquiring about any possible security issues if the convicts of the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case walk out of jail. However, the letter does not specify whether the enquiry was made for parole or release.
It is rumoured that the move is to create a record for future proceedings. Meanwhile, the prison department dismissed the controversy, quoting the letter as ‘normal’. The department said that the letter was not prepared for the eventual release of the convicts from prison.
Three of the accused in the TP murder case were recently acquitted in the New Mahe double murder case of an RSS worker. The prison department clarified that this letter was part of the investigation procedures to enquire about any security threats if the accused walks out on parole.
