
THRISSUR: Thrissur Rural Police arrested a woman for indulging in the drug trade under the guise of a gymnasium and beauty salon. The woman was identified as Sreelakshmi (30), a native of Peringottukara, who works at a gymnasium near the Thriprayar bus stand.
2.270 kg of hashish oil was seized from Sreelakshmi. In addition, Rs 90,500 illegally earned by selling drugs and 50 empty small plastic bottles used for retailing hashish oil were seized. The accused was arrested by the DANSAF team led by the Rural District Police Chief and the Valapad police at the rented house where the woman lives near Karayamuttam Society.
The source of the drugs was discovered after an investigation focused on schools, after a tip-off to District Police Chief B Krishnakumar that drug use was increasing among students in the coastal area. The young woman was extremely cautious in her dealings to avoid police and excise inspections. She made sure to only do business with trusted customers. Crucial information was received about the person who supplied the drugs to the young woman. It is also being investigated whether more people were involved in the incident.
