KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has stayed the arrest of Sukanth Suresh, the accused in the death of IB officer in Thiruvananthapuram. His arrest was stayed until Monday. The high court's order on Sukanth's anticipatory bail plea will be passed on Monday. Meantime, the family alleged that the police have not been able to arrest the accused even after 57 days of the woman's death.
The family had come forward demanding that the investigation into the death of the IB officer be expedited. The family had also met the chief minister in this regard. The family said that if the police do not take action, they will have to look other ways. Sukanth's parents were taken into custody last month in a case related to the officer's death. They were also absconding with Sukanth. The police clarified that the two are not accused in the case and were taken into custody for questioning.
The IB officer was found dead on the railway tracks near Chakkai in Thiruvananthapuram on March 24. The woman was in a relationship with Sukanth. The case is that the woman committed suicide due to mental distress after he withdrew from the relationship after exploiting her financially and physically. The police had received evidence of the girl's abortion and a WhatsApp chat between the two. The police had also found that the IB officer had spoken to Sukanth just before her death.
