THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains will continue in the state. Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam in the next three hours.
The weather department said that rain will continue for the next few days. Yellow alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Ernakulam tomorrow and Pathanamthitta and Idukki on Wednesday and Thursday. A chance of isolated heavy rain has been predicted. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
The IMD has informed that one should not go fishing in the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts today and tomorrow and in the Karnataka coasts. Strong winds with gustiness of 35 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts up to 55 kmph are likely along Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts and bad weather conditions.
