THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rainfall continues in the northern districts of the state. The rain has been particularly intense in Kasaragod, Kannur, and Malappuram districts. In Kasargod, an eight-year-old boy died after falling into a stream during the heavy downpour. The deceased is Sultan, son of Bandiyod native Sadath. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon. The boy went missing after falling into the water-filled stream in front of his house, and his body was recovered later during a search operation.

In another tragic incident, a 19-year-old drowned while bathing at Triveni, Moolamattom in Idukki. The deceased has been identified as Athul Baiju, a native of Moolamattom.

In Kasargod, heavy rains triggered a soil collapse on the national highway. The incident occurred in Cherkala, where a retaining wall collapsed, causing debris to fall onto the highway. As a result, traffic through this route has been completely suspended.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall over the next five days across Kerala. A red alert has been issued today in five districts: Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Malappuram. Additionally, an orange alert has been declared in six districts, and a yellow alert in three districts.
