NILESHWARAM: Former Hosdurg MLA and CPI leader M. Narayanan (73) passed away. He was undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College due to illness. He represented Hosdurg, a reserved constituency, from 1991 to 2001.
Narayanan had worked as a postman for 18 years and resigned from his job to contest in 1991. He has also served as a district panchayat member in Bedadka division. Narayanan has also served as CPI Kanhangad constituency secretary, district council member, State Secretary of the Farmers' Workers Federation and the State Secretary of the Adivasi Mahasabha. His younger brother M. Kumaran represented Hosdurg constituency for one term after M. Narayanan.
M. Narayanan is the son of the late Mavuvalappil Chanthan and Vellachi. Wife: K.M. Sarojini (retired health department employee) Children: N. Sheena (Health Inspector, Kasaragod Municipality), Shimjith (folklore trainer, folk song Theyyam artist), Sheeba. In-laws: Suresh, Rajani (Kayyur, Paloth), Gopalan.
CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam, National Committee member Panniyan Raveendran and others condoled the death of M. Narayanan.
