Hospital in memory of Dr Vandana Das to be opened on Sunday

KOTTAYAM: The hospital built in memory of Dr Vandana Das, who lost her life while she was on duty at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital, will be inaugurated on August 17 (Sunday). Her parents constructed the hospital at Madhuraveli in Kaduthuruthy. Minister V N Vasavan will inaugurate the hospital at 11.30 am. Advocate Mons Joseph MLA will preside over the function.

The hospital is located in Lakshmi Complex near Plamood Junction, Madhuraveli. The clinic will function from 9 am to evening. This is the second hospital to be opened in the name of Vandana. A hospital was built in her name at Thrikkunnappuzha in Alappuzha.

Dr Vandana Das was stabbed to death in the early hours of May 10, 2023 by Sandeep, when brought to the hospital for a medical examination. The incident happened when she was doing her house surgency in Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. She was the only daughter of K G Mohandas and Vasantha Kumari in Kottayam Muttuchira Nambichirakalai. Her parents are also planning to build another clinic near their residence. A trust will be formed for this. Her parents said that Vandana's wish was to provide better treatment to poor patients at a lower rate.
