Bullets found in toilet of Pettah railway hospital; Strict surveillance in area

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some bullets were found in the toilet of the Pettah Railway Hospital. Seven unused 9mm bullets were found abandoned in a mug. The bullets were noticed at around 10 am today. The staff was the first to see them and immediately informed the police.

As soon as the information was received, the Vanchiyoor police and the Railway Protection Force reached the spot and conducted a detailed examination. The bullets have now been shifted to the Vanchiyoor police station. The police are also investigating whether someone deliberately brought the bullets to the hospital. Evidence collection is in progress with the involvement of police dogs and fingerprint experts.


The bullets found were of the category used by the armed forces and the police and this adds to the seriousness of the incident. The role of a criminal gang is suspected in this. The police have questioned the hospital staff and security personnel. In addition, the police are collecting information about the patients who visited the hospital the other day.


The RPF and the police are jointly investigating the case. CCTV footage from the hospital premises will also be collected. The railway station and its surroundings are under strict surveillance by the authorities. A forensic examination will be conducted to find out the oldness and manufacturing details of the bullet. Local residents are also very concerned about the incident.
