'Huge win in Sasthamangalam ward, finally BJP coming to power'; R Sreelekha responds

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NDA candidate R Sreelekha, who won from Sasthamangalam ward, thanked the people while having no second thoughts about BJP coming to power in the capital city.

“I know this is the biggest majority for any candidate ever in the Sasthamangalam ward. I am very happy. NDA will rule the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Thank you to the people. Thank you for giving us this opportunity, at least now' - said R Sreelekha.

R Sreelekha is among those tipped to become mayor if BJP comes to power. Sreelekha defeated CPM's young candidate, Amrutha. Former BJP district president VV Rajesh also won in Kodunganoor ward. VV Rajesh's victory was by a comfortable majority. Since there is no reservation for women for the post of mayor in the municipality this time, VV Rajesh will be the priority to become mayor.
