
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Japanese director Sho Miyake’s film 'Two Seasons, Two Strangers' won the Golden Crow Pheasant (Suvarna Chakoram) award at the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presented the award at the festival’s closing ceremony.
The Audience Poll Award for the most popular film was won by the Malayalam movie 'Thanthapperu', which tells the survival story of the Cholanaikkan tribal community. The film was directed by Unnikrishnan Avala and was screened in the international competition section. Minister Saji Cherian presented the award.
The Silver Crow Pheasant (Rajata Chakoram) award for Best Director went to Carina Piazza and Lucia Bracelis, directors of the Argentine film 'Before the Body'. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 4 lakh, along with a citation and a plaque.
The FIPRESCI Award for Best Film was won by 'Khidki Gaav', directed by Sanju Surendran. Fazil Rassaq, director of the film 'Chithram', was selected as the Best Debut Director in Malayalam.
A total of 14 films competed for the Golden Crow Pheasant award in the international competition category this year as well. The awards were decided by an international jury chaired by Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof.
