THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The mystery of a one-year-old baby boy collapsing and dying in Neyyattinkara is still unsolved. The boy's parents were questioned for hours and released, but both are under police observation. The police said that the cause of death will be clear only after receiving the postmortem report and scientific examination results. The boy's father was questioned for about 18 hours and the mother for about six hours. The mother alleges that there is a mystery in the baby's death.
Ihan, the only son of Shijil and Krishnapriya, a native of Kavalakulam, Neyyattinkara, collapsed on Friday evening. He was then taken to Neyyattinkara General Hospital and Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, but his life could not be saved. Krishnapriya gave the biscuits and grapes that Shijil had brought to the toddler on Friday. Ihan collapsed half an hour after eating these. Foaming and drooling from the mouth was noticed. His lips and mouth were discoloured. Ihan was then taken to the hospital. However, the cause of death is not yet clear.
Forensic experts have collected samples of the food consumed by the baby. No suspicious circumstances have been found in the questioning of the parents so far. The police have informed that they will question the parents again after receiving the postmortem report.
Shijil, a mic set operator, and his wife Krishnapriya were not on good terms earlier. However, they reconciled two months ago and started living in a rented house in Kavalakulam. A week ago, the child was injured after falling to the ground. Relatives say that there was swelling in the chest due to this.
